"Measuring the earth"...

Square, side S:

Area = S2

Perimeter = 4 x S

Diagonal = S x sqr(2)

Cube, side S

Volume = S3

Surface Area = 6 x S2

Circle, radius R

Area = PI x R2

Circumference = 2 x PI x R

Sphere, radius R

Volume = 4/3 x PI x R3

Surface Area = 4 x PI x R2

Triangle, base B, perpendicular height H

Area = B x H / 2

Cone, base radius R,  height H

Volume = PI x R2 * H / 2

Length of sloping surface (base edge to top) = L = sqr(R2 + H2)

Surface Area of sloping surface = PI * R * L

Cylinder, base radius R, height H

Volume = PI x R2 x H / 2
Area of each end = PI x R2
Area of side face = 2 x PI x R x H
Total Surface Area = 2 x PI x R2 + 2 x PI x R x H
  = 2 x PI x R x (R + H)
